Quiltmaking could be just the form of sewing that sends your skills sorrowing. If you are new to sewing or simply new to quiltmaking, this class will give you a firm foundation on the elements of this time honored art form. Our class is based on the book “Start Quilting” by Alex Anderson. Alex has 6 simple quilt blocks to teach

you. In the course of this class, you will make a quilt from one of these blocks or you can be ambitious and make a sampler of all six blocks. We will discuss fabric choices, tools, cutting with a rotary cutter, pinning, and finishing.

for two projects will be supplied - one for class and one to do at home. Stop by and see the quilt top made by using an example of foundation piecing.

This ethnic quilting technique has rich tradition behind each design. This beginnner class emphasizes the use of a needle and thread while turning the fabric edges as you progress stitching around your design. You will finish a piece suitable for a wall hanging or pillow. Barbara

will take you through the steps of learning this needle turning process, and talk about the many different designs and styles that have emerged from Hawaiian quiltmakers.
