Quiltmaking could be just the form of sewing that sends your skills sorrowing. If you are new to sewing or simply new to quiltmaking, this class will give you a firm foundation on the elements of this time honored art form. Our class is based on the book “Start Quilting” by Alex Anderson. Alex has 6 simple quilt blocks to teach |
you. In the course of this class, you will make a quilt from one of these blocks or you can be ambitious and make a sampler of all six blocks. We will discuss fabric choices, tools, cutting with a rotary cutter, pinning, and finishing.

This ethnic quilting technique has rich tradition behind each design. This beginnner class emphasizes the use of a needle and thread while turning the fabric edges as you progress stitching around your design. You will finish a piece suitable for a wall hanging or pillow. Barbara |
will take you through the steps of learning this needle turning process, and talk about the many different designs and styles that have emerged from Hawaiian quiltmakers.
