Bulletin Board Info

The bulletin boards are here for students to discuss issues surrounding this class with your instructor and your fellow students.

One of the benefits of this class is that your questions will be read and answered by Common Threads instructors. We hope this interactivity creates comraderie and enhances your learning experience. If you know the answer to another student's question, please don't hesitate to help out! We will be forming a Frequently Asked Questions page for this class, so remember no question is a DUMB question. It might be a great question to add to the FAQ page.

We visit the bulletin board every day Monday through Friday, but please give us between 1 and 2 business days to formulate an answer to your questions. We own and operate our store Common Threads, and since it is just the two of us running things, daily duties might prevent us from answering as soon as we would like. If you post a question over the weekend, please don't expect an answer from us until Monday or Tuesday.

We do ask that you keep your questions and comments to the subject of the particular board you are posting to. If you wish to CHAT with one of your students, please e-mail your class-mate privately, or arrange a date to chat on the provided chat room. If you have something to discuss with us, your instructors, outside of the lesson plan, please e-mail us privately using the e-mail address at the bottom of this page. This will keep our boards free of unnecessary chatter, and make it easier to browse the boards for subjects that have the answers to a question you are looking for.

One embarrassing point I, Nancy, need to share with you is that I am very dyslexic, and suffer from terrible spelling. It seems necessary to me that I apologize ahead of time to those students that find this extremely offensive, because I know your breed are out there. I hope you can understand from my vantage point, if I let my spelling stop me, this web site and on-line experience would never have happened. So please bear with me when I post answers on the bulletin boards and show my obvious flaws--for this is one of my biggest short comings.

One other important point: When submitting a question or reply to the bulletin board, please be careful only to click the "Submit" button once. Wait a minute or two and you'll get a confirmation that your response was added to the bulletin board.

If you use either the AOL or the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser, you may not see any new messages (including your own) if you visit the bulletin board twice in one day. Be sure to hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button to see if there were any changes since the last time you visited. This is due to a bug in the caching routine used by those browsers. There is no such bug in the Netscape browser. You will never need to click the Reload button on the bulletin boards if you use Netscape.
