To cast off, at the beginning of the next row to knit, knit 2stitches, you now have two stitches on your right hand needle, put the first one over the second stitch. You now have one stitch. Now knit another stitch, you have 2 stitches on right hand needle, bring first stitch over the stitch just knitted, you have one stitch. Keep doing this till the number of stitches you need to cast off are completed, or the whole row is. Bring your yarn through last stitch if doing the whole row and tighten, weave through, hope this helped. I am an amateur too.
