Dear Weili,
Your question centers around knitting tension. I will admit that this aspect of knitting probably
is one that even advance knitters are always working at to make as even as possible. Since the
knit stitch and the purl stitch are created with different movements from your hands and your
needles, it is a challenge to get an even tension established on both sides of your fabric.
One trick we teach our beginners to help establish a similar tension on the knit and purl side of
your work, is to wrap the knitting yarn around your pinkie finger counter clockwise. This way
when the yarn is wrapped around your needle you can feel the yarn coming into your hand and
control the tension.
Hope this helps and we hope you enjoy learning to knit.
