When I see pictures of the garter stitch, it looks like knit one row, purl one row and repeat. However, the instructions for garter stitch are just to knit every row. When I knit every row, it looks like the stockinette stitch. What am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to reverse my work at the end of each row? (That is, always keep my knitting moving from left to right by switching my needles and reversing the work.) Thanks for your help!
