Im not sure why you are dropping, but one thing you can do is count the stitches at the end of the rows so you dont' get too far along in dropping one. Also, NEVER rip out! you can always take a crochet hook and looping the dropped stich just "manually" knit it back up to the row you are on by looping it under the yarn that connects each stitch (for that row). Hard for me to explain but between the knitted fabric, you'll see what looks like a ladder. Im sure you can find pictures on the internet if you do a search for dropped stiches. I've dropped all the way down as far as 10 or more rows and fixed it that way. Good luck
