Hi!
I am very new to knitting...attempting to teach myself and teach my older daughter (7 yrs. of age) at the same time. However, I tried to start the first row of knit stitch last night and I keep getting an ever-increasing strand of yarn between my needles. Somehow, I know that this is not correct (mainly b/c it keeps getting tangled in the knit-row:-)
I started off with a one-tail cast on. Is it possible to do this backward...is that causing the problem? We were doing the loop clockwise, should it be counter-clockwise? Is it better to begin by learning the two-tail cast on first and then learn the one tail?
As for now I think we will undo our cast on row and start over. I do not want to teach her incorrectly right off the bat.
Thank you for any advice you can give to 2 brand-new knitters.
Have a great day!
