I'm a new knitter and have been reading about the importance of having a correct gauge before starting a project. To do this, I was told to switch needle sizes until I come up with the required stitches. The pattern I'm using gives a gauge for #8 needles, but the pattern requires both #8 and #6 needles. If I need to switch from #8 to #9 (for instance) to achieve the proper gauge, do I increase the other needles by the same amount (ex. from #6 to #7). Is there a better way to adjust other than switching needles? Wouldn't it be better to re-adjust the number of stitches required instead?
Thanks in advance for your help!
