Pine-needle basketry has a growing following today. One of Sharol’s intentions is to be sure the inside basket design is as intricate as the outside, thus creating a unique artifact. She teaches this
aesthetic in her classes,

giving a sense of integrity and self discovery. You will learn the technique in how to finish a beautiful basket that will only give you the beginning bug bite into a new creative endeavor.

Make your own scaled down Navajo loom, and start weaving a creative abstract tapestry in two classes. Sharol will take you through a process of building your own lap size loom, as well as teach you the basics of tapestry weaving. She has developed a fun and creative way to achieve colorful
|
abstracted images using paper and melted crayons. These images will be the inspiration to each student's first tapestry, on their new loom. Whether you are a beginner or experienced weaver you will have fun building your own loom, then walking away with the beginnings of an artful tapestry.

Children will be making a simple Round Reed basket using a variety of natural materials, reeds, feathers, beads, and fibers to express their creativity. This is an introduction to some of the same age-old skills used by our Native Americans for making and decoration baskets. Your child will have a fun afternoon.
